Goodwin's Theory suggests that successful music videos should incorporate a song's lyrics into the video by visual links. For this reason I have looked through the lyrics for my chosen song and thought about some ways I could link the visuals with the lyrics.
'secret hideaway - visual shows closed door
(door opens with jump cuts)
'he must've forgot to close his door' shot of open door
'as he cranked out those dismal chords' - tracks through the door into room with a piano - someone playing the piano
'four walls' - pans around the room
'hide behind my mouth' - covers mouth with hand
'me or the devil' - variety of overlapping shots on an angle to represent the idea of insanity and in controllable thoughts
'I probably should've stayed inside my house' - lip syncs the lyrics correctly, however the footage is played in rewind of them leaving the house. This idea was inspired by parts of the video for Coldplay's The Scientist where the lead singer walks backwards while lip syncing.
